On August 7th, the espionage drama "孤舟" made its debut on Jiangsu Satellite TV, directed by Lin Lisheng and starring Zeng Sunchi, Zhang Songwen, Chen Duling, and Wang Yuxin in lead roles. The series focuses on the personal journey of Gu Yizhong (played by Zeng Sunchi), a returning overseas architect, as he navigates through a world of intrigue and danger, steadily growing in his convictions and courageously pushing forward. Director Lin Lisheng shared that "孤舟" features over 140 named characters, with particular emphasis on the portrayal of a group of passionate young individuals like Gu Yizhong, Zhang Haimo (Chen Duling), and Xiao Ruotong (Wang Yuxin). These characters, much like solitary boats navigating through dark waters, remain steadfast in their direction and purpose.

In the opening episodes, Gu Yizhong returns from his studies abroad with a fervent desire to contribute to his country. Influenced by his friends and love interest, he discreetly aids the "Iron Blood Action Squad" in their efforts to save the nation. Leveraging his exceptional architectural skills, Gu Yizhong reconstructs the floor plan of Yiyuan, enabling the action squad to devise an ingenious escape route. However, during the mission's execution, the team is ambushed, and Gu Yizhong finds himself captured by Zhou Zhifei (Zhang Songwen), the head of the secret service station. As the central figure driving the narrative, Gu Yizhong becomes entangled in the machinations of various factions, presenting a significant challenge for Zeng Sunchi, who is new to the genre of espionage dramas. "He is a young man thrust into a situation he didn't seek out, but once there, he fights back fiercely. Gu Yizhong is one of the most challenging roles I've ever taken on," Zeng Sunchi remarked during an interview. He also noted the intriguing dynamic between himself and co-star Zhang Songwen both on and off-screen: while they represent opposing sides within the story, Zhang Songwen, as a senior actor, has been a great mentor to Zeng Sunchi. "Teacher Zhang has had a profound influence on me. He encourages all the young actors in the show to freely express their characters' states, contributing not only to their own roles but also to the overall quality of the production."
